DESIGN TASK:
Design Brief: Our ball
sorter is able to sort larger types of balls such as table tennis balls from
smaller types of balls such as marbles.
Design Requirement:
Construct, assemble and fit
a simple stratagem that will sort table tennis balls and marbles. From a raised
bin, the table tennis balls and marbles should travel on a spiral route down to
separate containers.
a.
The container must have two divider: one for the table tennis balls and
one for the marbles.
b.
In the middle part, the two different balls should be able to sort
before they reach the area destined for each of them.
c.
Our device should be made of cardboard/illustration board/chip board.
d.
Containers (bin and compartment) should not go beyond 20 centimetres in
length, width and height.
e.
Length of the lane or chute varies depending on the design

EVALUATION CRITERIA:
These are our five
questions that we can use to evaluate our work when we have finished our artefact.
1.
Will it be able to sort out each type of ball into their respective
container?
2.
Are there going to be any damages with the device?
3.
Will the rolling of the balls be fast and smooth?
4.
Is our device going to be durable enough to last for a long time?
5.
Is our device going to be firm enough?
